Blacktop Police Chase

Blacktop Police Chase is a driving game by Steelpan Interactive, listed in Poki's driving games. Each job follows the same outline. You pick up bank robbers, drive them to the hideout and get paid for the delivery. Between those two points the police are after you, and roadblocks stand in the way, so the job is as much about the route as it is about speed. A clean job is one where you reach the hideout with the robbers still on board and the police still behind you.

Money from finished jobs goes towards new cars and trucks. That gives the game its longer thread: a run of jobs leads to a different vehicle, and a different vehicle changes how the next jobs feel. Poki also lists the game in its multiplayer and 2-player categories; the page does not describe how the shared mode is set up, so this card does not either. The upgrade loop is also a reason to replay: a job that felt out of reach in the first car may play very differently in the next one.

The keyboard layout is short. W A S D or the arrow keys drive and steer, Space is the brake, B lets you look back, and Shift resets the car. • Press B when the police are close. Seeing what is behind you makes it easier to pick a turn instead of guessing.
• Brake with Space before a corner, not in the middle of it. Keeping the car straight is worth more than a little extra speed.
• Watch the road ahead for roadblocks. A slightly longer way round often beats driving into one.
• If the car gets stuck, use Shift to reset it rather than wrestling with the wheel.
• Spend earnings on a new car or truck when jobs start to feel too hard with the current one.

Players who like chase driving with a clear loop of job, payout and upgrade, and who are comfortable with a getaway-crime theme. If you have enjoyed chase scenes in other driving games, the rules here will feel familiar within the first job.
